KOZs are defined, limited areas with a greatly reduced or no tax burden for residents and businesses. (Titusville's sites are designed only for businesses, not residential development).
Designed to attract economic activity where limited activity currently exists, zones are designated by local communities
and must be approved by the State. KOZ status may be retained for up to 12 years. The program is patterned after a one created by Michigan.
If a business moves into a moving from another location into a zone, full-time employment must increase by 20% in the first full year or the business
must make a capital investment in the property equivalent to 10% of gross revenues from the prior year.
