AUTHORITY BRINGS GANNON UNIVERSITY SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER TO TITUSVILLE OPPORTUNITY PARK Titusville, PA August 12, 2000
Edward Lauch, board chairman of the Titusville Redevelopment Authority has announced that the Titusville Redevelopment Authority is bringing a center intended to provide an array of services for small
businesses to Titusville. The center will be housed at Titusville's Opportunity Park through the support of the Redevelopment Authority.
Gary Warner, a Business Analyst with Gannon University's Small Business Development Center, will be at Building One, formerly Armco corporate offices, of Opportunity Park every Tuesday to target existing
small businesses and people who are thinking about opening a small business.
A small business is considered having up to 500 employees and up to $10 million in sales.
The first thing a business owner will do when he sits down with Warner, a Titusville High School and University of Pittsburgh at Titusville graduate, who has six years experience and will run the
Titusville satellite office, is to make a business plan.
Warner will ask questions like, what kind of business do you want, are you ready, what kind of money and management will it take and is it available.
With a plan, a business is 300 times more likely to succeed, he said.
The SBDC also provides pre-business seminars for people thinking about becoming business owners.
The center helps with any aspect of a small business, Warner said. Marketing data and financial projections are included.
According to Warner, the free services are available for anyone "who cannot afford the services of a private consultant."
International sales assistance is also available to anyone in business. No limits regarding employee numbers of sales are in place.
The SBDC is funded by a cooperative effort of Gannon University, the state and the federal government.
Michael Allyn, executive director of Titusville Redevelopment Authority stated that "In addition to the bricks and mortar we have seen going into the making of this facility, we recognize that providing
the community with services such as the SBDC are just as important and a good first step for us to take in assuring the success of area businesses."
Additional information regarding the SBDC can be obtained by contacting Titusville Redevelopment Authority at 827-3668.
